Company: Hindawi UK - A Wiley Brand

Our mission is to unlock human potential. We welcome you for who you are, the background you bring, and we embrace individuals who get excited about learning. Bring your experiences, your perspectives, and your passion; it's in our differences that we empower the way the world learns.

We strive for a future where researchers are motivated to work together, empowered with the tools and services they need to do so, and freed from any barriers that stand in their way.

Hindawi aims to maximize the impact of scientific research through openness and global collaboration. We believe that science works best when research is open.

We believe in the power of open scholarly communication to radically improve the research process. We are passionate about working with the research community to promote the transition towards Open Science on a large scale. With the help of our academic editors, we focus on serving our authors while preserving robust publishing standards and editorial integrity.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Editorial Production Editor will be responsible for managing an assigned vendors' portfolio of journals from submission to publication, including screening checks, peer review and production. To achieve this, the Editorial Production Editor will work with overseas colleagues, answering queries and reporting on their performance. The Editorial Production Editor will work with the entire Editorial Production Operations team to achieve an ever-improving customer experience.

How you will make an impact:
  • Managing a portfolio of partnership journals from submission through to final publication
  • Ensuring key performance indicators on these journals are met via critique, feedback and reporting, including report creation and data analysis
  • Assisting with the set-up and organisation of new partnership journals
  • Attending calls with clients and giving updates on behalf of the Operations team
  • Regularly updating internal teams on the progress of the partnership portfolios
  • Acting as an escalation point for overseas colleagues, and for authors, reviewers and editors
  • Taking a proactive approach to improving quality, turnaround times and author experience within the partnership portfolio of journals
  • Using initiative to identify new efficiencies, and to suggest process changes to the Operations Manager
  • Keeping the Operations Manager updated on the performance of the partnership portfolio of journals
  • Completing spot checks on overseas supplier output to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Ensuring documentation is updated
  • Working on vendor and operational projects, including the training of vendors
  • Acting as a cover for colleague absences and to deputise for the Operations Manager if required
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Willing to travel if required

What we look for:
  • 3 years of either production or editorial experience in an STM environment
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers
  • Proven ability to prioritise own workload and to meet deadlines
