Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Company is hiring an NPD Quality Assurance Engineer II/III to join our team in Hollister, CA.

The NPD Quality Engineer is a direct position that works on new product development (NPD) programs and evaluates the design and development and transition to production on newly designed electronic assemblies with a cross-functional team regarding the quality requirements of the contract and internal quality management system. The NPD Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager - Electronics, and work with them to improve the aspects of NPD within our Quality Management System at PSEMC. The position will require significant involvement with the cross-functional team and with customers in support of the compliance and production mission assurance. In addition, this associate will work with our inspection and supplier development teams in developing the appropriate quality inspection, control plans and statement of works as required for supplier-related parts and subassemblies.
  • Develop and manage key quality metrics for new products. Train users on the effective use of the metrics and ensure they sustain. Assist in driving positive results in all quality metrics as well as leading the daily management meetings (QDIP).
  • Assist Design Engineers in Failure Review Boards (FRB), Problem Solving Process (PSP), projects.
  • Participates in the proposal preparation/review phase to ensure quality process and risks are adequately defined and up to date.
  • Provide Material Review Board oversight on nonconforming hardware for programs
  • Works with the customer, Program Management, and Manufacturing to review, analyze, and ready the product for manufacturing NPI launch.
  • Upon contract award, participates in the Sales Order kickoff to verify consistency of the original proposal and Statement of Work. In preparation for the kickoff, prepare the contract flowdown review checklist and all quality flowdowns from the customer contract, statement of work and other supporting documents.
  • Be a good resource for bringing new employees in line with standard practices or training employees from different disciplines
  • Work to implement FMEA process and control plans to increase the productivity of the manufacturing cells. Understand PFMEA process and work through the analysis of risks presented within the respective team (ME, DE, Operator etc.).
  • Participate in design reviews and determine product dimensions, processes and requirements that will require special supplier processing and key requirements to be achieved.
  • Have the experience to assist in the development and handoff of new products to ensure manufacturability.

Education & Experience
  • BS Degree in engineering related field or comparable work
  • 5+ yearsexperience as a quality professional possibly less depending on other experiences within team environment; Strong background in correction actions/program solving. The following bulletized items would be beneficial:
  • Soldering standards J-STD-001 or IPC-A-610
  • Rapid build and turnaround process
  • Electromechanical top-level assembly
  • Testing of electronic assemblies (flying probe, ICT, Bed of nails, ATC)
  • SMT Technologies and rework
  • New product introduction (transition from concept to manufacturing)
  • Supplier Development and New Product Introduction
