Essential Duties and Job Functions:
Performs highly complex tasks to implement, maintain, and comply with all water quality and environmental regulations and programs within the Initiates corrective action for procedural, product, or process deficiencies.
Approves reports for compliance purposes that may include but not limited to: California Division of Drinking Water (DDW) Annual Report, Consumer Confidence Report, Public Health Goal Report, NPDES report, etc.
Develops programs to maintain full compliance with applicable requirements in water quality.
Analyzes reports and develops programs to maintain full compliance with applicable requirements in water quality and environmental regulations.
Updates and executes water quality monitoring plans and operation plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and achievement of district water quality objectives.
Updates and executes System Flushing Program and Cross-Connection Control Program.
Participates in DDW field inspections and acts as company representative with DDW, EPA, Regional Water Quality Control Board, and other water quality and environmental regulating bodies, as required.
Responsible for internal and external water quality and environmental reports and oversees maintenance of district water quality databases and electronic document database.
Manages contracts with appropriate laboratories for water quality analyses.
Supervises water quality technicians, water quality analysts, and other support staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a science related field.
Must have knowledge, skill and six years of experience performing highly complex work in the area of water quality/environmental engineering, regulations and operations.
Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
May include but not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, sitting, typing, walking, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening for extended periods of time
