Instructional Professor, Assistant
The University of Wyoming Honors College invites applications for the position of Assistant Instructional Professor, on a Fixed-Term Rolling Contract track. The successful candidate will teach six courses per year (75% of the job description) and engage in service to the College and the University (15% of the job description) and maintain an active professional development profile (10% of the job description).
In the field of academic expertise, we seek a PhD or MFA in a humanities, fine arts, or social science field. It is imperative that candidates have interest and experience in interdisciplinary approaches to teaching. The successful candidate will teach in our core first-year sequence, an interdisciplinary colloquium for first-year students in the Honors College. This course is a multi-section, small-seminar-style, theme-based, writing-intensive course with readings from multiple disciplines. The successful candidate will also collaborate with colleagues in the continuing development of these courses, and will offer non-western based, upper-division humanities, fine arts or social science-themed seminar courses. These are courses in which students learn about a non-western cultural tradition from perspectives from within that tradition.

This position provides vital support to the learning outcomes of the Honors College, and assists in fostering a sense of community, connection, and engagement among students and faculty in the Honors College. As such, the position requires the successful candidate be available to work face-to-face on campus.
Applications must include a cover letter; CV, three sets of teaching evaluations, one syllabus of a course you taught, and a document describing three upper-level, non-western interdisciplinary seminars you would like to develop and teach (a title and three to four sentences per proposed course will suffice). • PhD, MFA, or terminal degree in a humanities, fine arts, or social science field with non-western teaching/research expertise
• Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary instruction at the university level
• Demonstrated experience teaching a reading and writing-intensive course, including the ability to lead discussions, teach critical thinking, and offer writing instruction to students from multiple disciplinary backgrounds
• Ability to coordinate and support undergraduate Honors student research opportunities
• Ability to offer interdisciplinary, non-western, upper-division courses in the humanities, fine arts, or social sciences to a wide range of majors
• Ability or experience leading undergraduate study abroad courses
• Record of success in interdisciplinary instruction
• Record of success in mentoring undergraduate research
• Record of success in developing and teaching non-western themed courses
• Record of success fostering student community within an academic program
