DescriptionSince its establishment, TGen's Center for Rare Childhood Disorders (C4RCD) has been giving hope to children and their families where once there was none. We use cutting-edge genomic sequencing technology to pinpoint the causes of rare childhood disorders that largely remain a mystery to modern medicine. A precise genetic diagnosis is necessary for our patients, but that is just the beginning. Understanding what is causing the disease or condition enables TGen's C4RCD to consider treatment options that could best help each child. We want to use precise genetic information to understand more about the particular disorder and develop novel approaches to treatment. C4RCD research lab utilizes the mouse, zebrafish, and human iPSC-derived neuronal models to understand the molecular mechanism and develop new therapies. TGen affiliation with the City of Hope also allows us to research innovative gene therapies to cure the disease.
