The American Public Power Association is looking for a Manager, Research and Statistics to perform research and analysis of complex issues affecting the electric utility industry. This individual will prepare reports and publications to present research results and recommendations. Manages the collection, processing, analysis, and graphic presentation of statistical data on publicly owned electric utilities. Serve as American Public Power Association (APPA) lead on surveys and statistics. Present research findings to relevant stakeholders and educates members on the implications of research findings.
Please noteThis is not a remote position. Candidates must be in DC, Maryland, or Virginia area. APPA offers a flexible work schedule for full-time employees and the option for telework is available after (3) months of employment (with supervisor approval).
*Direct hire only, no agency
* Conducts research and analysis to support APPA's policy positions and provide members with statistics and information on the electric utility industry and public power's position in the industry.
* Uses research and analysis to develop reports, case studies, databases, and other member resources.
* Collects, analyzes, and manages data for the various databases.
* Lead reoccurring member surveys and corresponding publication developments
* Strategizes new survey, statistical, and research opportunities for APPA in line with the association's business plan.
* Provides technical and statistical assistance to APPA members and staff.
* Answers requests for statistical and other information from APPA staff, members, and the public.
* Cultivates relationships with members as well as external stakeholders.
* Supports budget planning for the statistical analysis and the economics and research sections of the regulatory affairs department.
* Prepares written comments on data collection to government agencies, including the Energy Information Administration, Small Business Administration, and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and monitors these agencies' data-collection programs.
* Carries out special projects as assigned by Senior Vice President, Advocacy & Communications and General Counsel, and Director, Policy and Research.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
