The Deng Lab is a neuroscience lab with the aim of understanding the causes and pathophysiological mechanisms of neurodegenerative disease, such as Parkinson's disease (PD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Description:
A postdoctoral fellow and a technologist are needed for a neuroscience lab at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Dept of Neurology.
* Deng Lab conducts research in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. We identify mutations in disease-causing genes in patients, develop cellular and animal models to understand how the genetic mutations cause the diseases, and explore effective strategies to slow down or to stop the disease development and progression in these models.
* Applicants will have the opportunities to learn multidisciplinary knowledge and technical strategies to address some healthcare challenges using variety of approaches, such as gene editing, cellular and animal model development and characterization, and CRISPR/Cas9-based gene therapy.
* Successful applicants are expected to be self-motivated, with great potential for further development. Candidates with expertise in DNA cloning, cell culture, animal behavioral and pathology are preferred.
Requirements:
Postdoctoral fellow: Ph.D. degree in genetics, molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and other relevant fields.
