Department Chair, Associate/Full Professor - Educational Leadership & Counseling
This search will be for a tenure-track (or tenured), 12-month appointment in the Department of Educational Leadership & Counseling. This position seeks a strong candidate who will serve as Department Chair (50%) and teaching (50%) in a field within the department.

This search will be for a tenure-track (or tenured), 12-month appointment in the Department of Educational Leadership & Counseling. This position seeks a strong candidate who will serve as Department Chair (50%) and teaching (50%) in a field within the department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have:
- An earned doctorate in a discipline related to one of the subject areas covered by the Department of Educational Leadership & Counseling or other closely related discipline.
- Five years of teaching experience in higher education at the level of assistant professor or higher
- Evidence of excellence in teaching, scholarship (inclusive of a record of sustained peer-reviewed publications), professional development, and service
- A record of academic achievement meriting appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at Texas A&M University - Kingsville
- Demonstrated leadership ability, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work collaboratively at the Department Chair level
- Demonstrated effectiveness in planning and administration
- Successful record of supervision and evaluation of personnel
- A commitment to the field of education and the mission of teaching, scholarship, professional development, and service
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and other university constituents
- Ability and desire to address the educational needs of a diverse population
- Willingness to collaborate and sustain a collegial environment
- Lead and assist with accreditation and program reviews
- Assist, as needed, with budgeting
- Provide recommendations for continuation, tenure, promotion, and termination
- Perform other duties as required by the College Dean, Provost/VPAA and/or President
- A criminal background check is required for the successful candidate
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A record of successful service in higher education at the rank of associate professor or higher.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience managing budgets and directing/supervising personnel
- Experience in fundraising, external communications, and other advancement initiatives
- Experience with inclusive and culturally responsive pedagogy and practice
- Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses
- Experience designing contemporary and technology-based learning environments
- Strong record of grant writing knowledge/experience
- Experience teaching doctoral-level courses and chairing/serving on doctoral dissertation committees
