Department Chair, Associate/Full Professor - Educational Leadership & Counseling This search will be for a tenure-track (or tenured), 12-month appointment in the Department of Educational Leadership & Counseling. This position seeks a strong candidate who will serve as Department Chair (50%) and teaching (50%) in a field within the department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have:
An earned doctorate in a discipline related to one of the subject areas covered by the Department of Educational Leadership & Counseling or other closely related discipline.
Five years of teaching experience in higher education at the level of assistant professor or higher
Evidence of excellence in teaching, scholarship (inclusive of a record of sustained peer-reviewed publications), professional development, and service
A record of academic achievement meriting appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at Texas A&M University - Kingsville
Demonstrated leadership ability, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work collaboratively at the Department Chair level
Demonstrated effectiveness in planning and administration
Successful record of supervision and evaluation of personnel
A commitment to the field of education and the mission of teaching, scholarship, professional development, and service
Demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and other university constituents
Ability and desire to address the educational needs of a diverse population
Willingness to collaborate and sustain a collegial environment
Lead and assist with accreditation and program reviews
Assist, as needed, with budgeting
Provide recommendations for continuation, tenure, promotion, and termination
Perform other duties as required by the College Dean, Provost/VPAA and/or President
A criminal background check is required for the successful candidate
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A record of successful service in higher education at the rank of associate professor or higher.
Minimum of three (3) years' experience managing budgets and directing/supervising personnel
Experience in fundraising, external communications, and other advancement initiatives
Experience with inclusive and culturally responsive pedagogy and practice
Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses
Experience designing contemporary and technology-based learning environments
Strong record of grant writing knowledge/experience
