The Research Assistant 2 will assist and support the scientific investigation to study immuno-oncology as directed in the Immune Monitoring & Discovery Platform (IMDP) in the Pelotonia Institute of Immuno-Oncology (PIIO) within the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Ohio State University.

This is an opportunity to become involved in one of the most cutting-edge areas of cancer therapy, to learn and use the newest technologies and develop the most marketable skillset in laboratory science, while working with an exceptional team of dedicated and talented scientists.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support research of collaborating investigators

* Perform cryopreservation of cell fractions obtained from blood, or other samples collected from research subjects using aseptic techniques

* Collect and stabilize tissue and cell culture samples for subsequent research analyses

* Assist with the preparation of a comprehensive repository inventory

* Track patient records using the ELIMS sample inventory database

* Prepare shipments to collaborating institutions

* Assist with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students assistants

* Perform RNA and DNA isolation, protein isolation, and cytological slide preparation

* Record and consolidate data from collected samples

* Perform quality control checks on equipment and materials, monitor research supplies and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities

Minimum Education Required:

* A Bachelor's degree in a Biological/ Health Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Required Qualifications:

* Excellent people skills and the ability to function within a team required

* Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required

* Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to work in a team

* Must be available for occasional work on Saturdays, holidays, and for emergencies as needed

* Training is provided and overall opportunity is only limited by candidate's work ethic and skill

* Requires successful completion of a background check

* Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen
