YOUR ROLE
  • Provides support to lead PD scientist with opportunity to lead own projects
  • Proactively develops new materials, leads projects that generate a competitive edge.
  • Hands-on attitude with desire to invent materials and processes that change the technology landscape.
  • Technical expert in adhesive chemistries, polymer network physics, highly filled suspension rheology, and/or resin cure chemistry.
  • Builds prototype samples using processes for spray coating, web-handling and liquid coating/patterning.
  • Analyzes material properties in conjunction with local and global Henkel Analytical team.
  • Manages technical aspects of project within Stage gate system in conjunction with professional project manager.
  • Assesses logistical requirements to successfully complete projects and plan accordingly.
  • Translates customer and market feedback into technical specifications and develops product formulations and applicable data packages for specific customers and general market.
  • Provides work direction to technicians and/or Engineers/Scientists working on the projects under his/her leadership.
  • Reads and interprets patents, examines new product concepts and technology, and determines how to improve or utilize technology.
  • Generates intellectual property in the form of patents, trade secrets, and formulation know-how.
  • Contributes actively to a safe work culture by applying and contributing to safety procedures and lab safety systems.
  • Participates and presents papers at conferences, serves in professional committees.

  • YOUR SKILLS
  • Education • Ph.D in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields
    M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields and a minimum of 5 years in research and development, or B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields with a minimum of 10 years of R&D related experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of heat transfer materials and thermal interface products.
  • Broad based knowledge of polymer science, including polymer chemistry, structure property relationships, rheology, bulk and adhesive mechanics of soft materials.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge MS Office, Labview, Autocad or solid drawing programs and other common technical software packages.
