Overview:

An Energy Instructor will be responsible for the effective training of the Energy Technology, Industrial Maintenance, and Wind Power curriculum in the classroom and laboratory setting.

Effective presentation skills are vital in this role, as well as the ability to ensure standards and goals are met in each timeframe. Therefore, planning, and critical thinking skills are both essential for success in this position. The ideal candidate will also act with our students in mind and establish and maintain effective relationships with students to gain their trust and respect.

Responsibilities:
Conducting classroom and shop training utilizing proper instructional techniques, practices and following approved curriculum
Utilize equipment and training aids in daily lessons
Order required supplies and tools
Report all damaged or missing instructional equipment
Ensure that classroom and shop areas are kept clean and orderly
Store all unused training aids and supplies in approved areas
Maintain student attendance and grade rosters
Prepare class lessons and test in a timely manner
Design training aids and mock-ups in area of instructor expertise
Administer tests and make-up tests per MIAT procedures manual
Conduct make-up classes as scheduled
Ensure that students follow all established policies, procedures, and safety practices
Ensure that a professional training environment is always maintained in the classroom and shop areas
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Requirements

Must meet ACCSC standards for instructors, achieve and maintain required technical certifications and state specific licensing requirements as a condition of employment

Education / Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
3 years practical work experience (excludes teaching).
Teaching experience a plus

Skills

Ability to instruct students of various ages and diverse backgrounds
Able to work productively and communicate effectively with students and new employees
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
Must be able to deal responsibly with confidential information
Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word and Excel required)
Must be personable, energetic and have a customer service orientation
Must be initiative-taking
Must be able to work alone or with a team
Familiar with climb and rescue gear and how to manipulate the safety features

Abilities

Must be able to instruct two consecutive courses per workday; number of hours will vary based on campus location and program (applies to campuses with ADT II curriculum)
Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds for short periods of time during the workday
Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for short periods of time during the workday
Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn, and reason for all the workday
Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
Must be able to climb a vertical ladder (20 to 30 feet high) and work hands free while suspended and deploying safety gear during the workday.

Work Environment

Majority of time spent in education environment
Appropriate safety measures must be followed
Exposure to chemicals that are standard to the industry
Work may be completed while suspended at heights of 20 to 30 feet.
