Lifescan Labs of Illinois, LLC is looking for a Laboratory Quality & Safety Manager who will oversee the quality, accreditation and safety functions of laboratory services. Responsibilities will include collaboration with Technical resources in policy development and implementation; ensuring compliance with all safety, regulatory and accreditation requirements; and managing special projects under the guidance of the Laboratory Operations Director.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains appropriate Quality and Safety policies and procedures for the Laboratory.
  • Supports and communicates Laboratory initiatives and philosophies, especially those related to promoting employee safety and ensuring quality laboratory services.
  • Collects, collates, interprets, and reports quality data for all Laboratory functions. Uses data to create QA reports and develop action plans; drives action plans to completion.
  • Assists with required competency assessment throughout all Laboratories. Maintains appropriate documentation related to competency assessments. Identifies and resolves gaps.
  • Assists Director with the maintenance of system level policies and procedures, including the development of new policies and procedures and periodic review/updates of existing policies and procedures.
  • Manages Quality Control products and data for the system, assisting Managers, Supervisors and Lead Techs as necessary to ensure that all regulatory guidelines are met/exceeded.
  • Monitors, reviews and audits all safety procedures and practices of system-wide labs.
  • Trains and educates all laboratory employees on safety procedures.
  • Oversees and coordinates Laboratory safety projects and initiatives.
  • Is familiar with and meets/exceeds all regulatory standards for performance of proficiency testing.
  • Maintains familiarity with regulatory requirements related to Quality and Safety and ensures that policies and procedures meet current standards.
  • Serves as a key resource in understanding accreditation requirements and periodically audits to ensure system level compliance.
  • Promotes a culture of process improvement by establishing quality-based programs that support the system's process improvement goals.
  • Works with other departments using and promoting Lean processes to improve patient care.

Successful candidates will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology program from an accredited institution.
  • MLS/MT ASCP, AMT or other national accreditation.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in high complexity clinical laboratory.
  • 2+ years' experience managing a QA/Safety program in a clinical laboratory environment
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills. Knowledge of Lean or Process Improvement tools required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to present data in a format appropriate to the audience to gain understanding and consensus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to drive collaboration and teamwork in advancing cross-functional quality improvements.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Outlook. Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookup, and visual presentation of data.


Schedule
  • Monday - Friday 9:00AM - 5:30PM . Off shift and weekends as needed.
