How You'll Add Value...

The overall purpose of the position is the automation and optimization of laboratory and manufacturing steps in Life Science. You will provide expertise in engineering, design, installation and start-up of automation systems; assist manufacturing operations in problem solving with regards to the automation systems; assist in the validation of process and facility automation. You may also develop code and design system architectures in order to define user compatibility.



What you'll do:
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, usability and quality of existing systems and workflows in operations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of workflow improvements in operations.
  • Script automated workflows on robotic liquid handlers.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves mechanical and instrumentation problems.
  • Develop, evaluate and test customized automation technologies/ platforms.
  • Adhere to the software development processes.
  • Work collaboratively with lab staff to build efficient automated laboratory workflow.
  • Provides automation support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems.
  • Development of best practices resulting in standardized and streamlines processes and efficient use of resources.
  • Responsible for efficient integration of laboratory equipment into a LIMS system.
  • Operation, calibration and maintenance of equipment, as assigned.
  • Developing and providing training manuals, SOP's, hands-on teaching.
  • Support existing instrumentation software by programming and testing various robotic liquid handling systems.
  • Analyze, design and develop presentation vehicles including reports, queries and analytics as specified.
  • Other duties as assigned.



What you'll bring:
  • BSc or MSc in Life Sciences or Engineering discipline.
  • Several years of hands on assay automation and liquid handling experience.
  • Expert ability to create, validate, optimize and maintain liquid handling processes on robotic workstations.
  • Experience with programming automated systems (e.g. Hamilton Star, Hamilton Vantage, Beckman FX/NX, Tecan Evo).
  • Experience in converting bench top or semi-automated into fully automated assays.
  • Ability to design, document and communicate complex laboratory workflows and requirements to a cross functional team.
  • Energetic and self-motivated. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient English language skills.
  • Experience with relevant software languages such as C#, Java, SQL, LabView.
  • Experience with the automation of genomics workflows.
  • Computational and/ or AI based vision engineering.
  • Collaborative robotics.
  • Autonomous and/ or mobile robotics.
  • IoT.
  • Several years of hands on assay automation and liquid handling experience.
