The School of Arts and Sciences seeks adjunct faculty to teach introductory math courses to health science majors (premed, pharmacy, nursing, etc.) for the upcoming academic year (Fall 2022-Spring 2023). Possible courses include Algebra and Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus I and II; all are taught as face-to-face, in-person courses. Successful candidates will have at least one year of experience teaching math at the college level.

- Delivers engaging didactic instruction in face-to-face, in-person classes
- Provides engaging assignments that demonstrate real-world applications of concepts covered
- Provides students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria
- Supports incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum, as well as co-curricular experiences, to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparities
- Uses the University's learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students
- Advises and assists students through in-person office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
Required:
- Advanced degree (masters or above) in mathematics or allied discipline
- Minimum of one (1) year of teaching math courses at the college/university level
- Commitment to undergraduate student success
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, and administration/staff)
