Assistant Professor of Music, USC Aiken

The Department Visual & Performing Arts?at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USC Aiken) invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Music (Director of Instrumental Studies) beginning August 16, 2023.

Requirements

Earned doctorate in music required for rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track). Candidates currently ABD will be considered but degree must be awarded prior to August 16, 2023. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.

Position Description

Primary responsibilities include administrating instrumental studies, directing the Wind Ensemble, and co-teaching conducting. Other instructional responsibilities are based on qualifications and needs of the department and may include jazz ensemble, athletic band, music technology, marching band techniques, instrumental pedagogy, applied lessons, humanities courses in music, or supervision of student teachers. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in scholarship or creative activity, be active in service, and advise students.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidate must have evidence of successful ensemble conducting and classroom teaching.
