Job Description
POSITION: Clinical Research Nurse/Research Nurse

Grade 22 - $40.63-50.22 Hourly (includes geographic differential)

DEPARTMENT: HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies

DESCRIPTION: Working closely with the Principal Investigators, the Clinical Research Nurse/Research Nurse will work as part of a team and be involved in various data collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination activities. Additionally, the Nurse will provide specialized adherence counseling to research participants and facilitate an mHealth smartphone application. The successful candidate will have strong scientific writing skills , ability to work independently under limited supervision, excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

DUTIES: The Clinical Research Nurse/Research Nurse will be responsible for the following:
  • Participating in and leading study recruitment activities
  • Collaborating with the study team to further develop research and data collection materials, including an mHealth application
  • Conducting study visits, which include (but are not limited to) administering placebo pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) injections, and training participants to self-inject placebo PrEP
  • Providing participants with study adherence support in-person and through an mHealth application
  • Conducting participant surveys and interviews
  • Participate in data management, analysis, and dissemination activities


QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates must have a current New York State nursing license. Nurses without previous research experience (including licensed students) who wish to gain these skills are encouraged to apply.

As this is an entry level position, the candidate should have 6 months experience or training in the following:
  • conducting participant surveys & interviews
  • involvement leading study recruitment activities
  • working with gender diverse populations


Preferred Qualifications: Spanish language fluency is preferred.

Individuals that are not vaccinated for COVID-19 are ineligible for appointment to positions that require vaccination. Fully vaccinated is defined as two (2) or more weeks since receiving either the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or the first and only dose of a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson [J&J]/Janssen).
