Scientist I - ADME

This position is to conduct in vitro ADME studies and in vivo pharmacokinetic sample analysis to advance small molecule drug discovery and development projects. Work closely with bioanalytical, ADME scientists, and medicinal chemists.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform permeability and drug transporter assays to study ADME properties.
  • Conduct in vitro studies (CYP induction, CYP inhibition, protein binding, metabolic stability, metabolite profiling) and to quantify test compounds and metabolites in various matrices, including cells, plasma, microsomes and hepatocytes.
  • Analyze physicochemical properties of small molecule lead compounds (e.g. solubility, logD).
  • Performs experimental procedures under minimal supervision.
  • Capable of good record keeping of data and writing study reports
  • Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet internal/external deadlines
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Collects and analyzes data for review by technical staff using appropriate analysis software.
  • Consistently and reproducibly produces quality scientific data and analysis.
  • Will train less experienced staff.
  • Attend technical staff and departmental meetings.
  • Observe appropriate safety and study requirements by reading, understanding, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirements, and study protocols whenever appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as required by supervisor.


Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Drug Metabolism, Pharmaceutical Sciences with 2 years relevant scientific experience, or BS degree with 5 years experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate study designs and present data.
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, biochemical assays, and using multi-channel pipettes, laboratory automation devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize assays
  • Has a complete understanding of laboratory safety requirements.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive cell culture experience and capable of performing permeability studies using Caco2, MDCK or similar cell lines.
  • Working knowledge of drug metabolism and transporter sciences.
  • Experience in tissue homogenization and sample processing (e.g. protein precipitation and Solid-Phase extraction).
  • Experience in operation of LC-MS/MS, HPLC instrument, and analyze drug in biological matrices.
