The Department of Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is pleased to announce a new recruitment for (1) additional academic neuropathologist.  We are inviting applications from qualified candidates at all ranks for a full-time, tenure earning/tenured position through the UAB Department of Pathology in the Heersink School of Medicine. The candidate should have an M.D. (or M.D., Ph.D.), board certification in Anatomic Pathology, board certification or eligibility in Neuropathology, and be eligible for a license to practice medicine in the state of Alabama. The successful candidate should either have or have the potential to develop a national reputation in academic neuropathology. The successful candidate should also either have or have the potential to develop a track record of competitive basic, translational, and/or clinically focused research.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is an outstanding tertiary care institution currently processing approximately 900 surgical neuropathology specimens and 300 autopsy brains per year. A strong, diverse research portfolio in translational investigations in neuro-oncology and neurodegenerative diseases is conducted by faculty along with a quality teaching program. The Division has an ACGME-accredited fellowship. Divisional faculty are noted for multidisciplinary academic productivity, teaching excellence, and national leadership.

A pre-employment background investigation is performed on candidates selected for employment. In addition, physicians and other clinical faculty candidates who will be employed by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF) or other UAB Medicine entities must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen to be hired.
