Dean, School of Nursing

Reporting to the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences, the Dean of the School of Nursing is part of the senior executive management team at the University and is responsible for enhancing the University profile, visibility and effectiveness. At the School of Nursing level, the Dean is responsible for setting the School's strategic plan with input from Faculty, Staff, Students, and Stakeholders. The Dean exercises management responsibility for academic program planning, faculty, staff and student matters and administrative detail, including staffing, budgets and facilities. This individual also fosters high quality academic teaching, research and practice. The Dean creates and strengthens partnerships within and outside of the University and acts as a strong advocate for Nursing.

The Dean of the School of Nursing can be expected to interact with all levels of faculty and staff in the School of Nursing, the Health Science center, the University and the community at large. Additionally, will interact with multiple levels of individuals, organizations and systems, regionally, nationally and internationally. The Dean will have significant interaction with accrediting agencies, e.g., CCNE, New York State Department of Health of Education, Middle States, etc. In addition, there will be significant involvement with representatives of affiliated programs, executive level professional organizations and consortiums, regional state and national registered nurse professional organizations, etc. As the global health initiative at the University evolves, the Dean will have opportunities to work with global leaders in education and healthcare and will need the demeanor to manage and enhance these connections.
