*Educational and Experience Requirement:*Earned Doctorate or terminal degree in any discipline within the College of Arts and Media (CAM). A record of high-quality performance as an educator, evidence of scholarly achievement, and ability and experience in administration at the unit, college, or University level. Must demonstrate human relations and managerial skills and an understanding of disciplines that comprise the College.
*Nature & Purpose of Position:*Serves as a critical member of the college's administrative leadership team and participates in university-wide initiatives. Assists the Dean of the College in addressing the needs of faculty, staff, and students of the College of Arts and Media (CAM), and provides oversight and evaluation for college-wide initiatives.
*Primary Responsibilities:*Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: general administration, curriculum and instruction, accreditation efforts, evaluation and assessment, faculty and student matters, internal and external communication, research activity, and campus wide activities. Commitment to fostering inclusive excellence. Works to develop community partnerships and inter-university collaborations.

Oversees assessment and reporting procedures of CAM, its units, and academic programs. Leads departments in preparing assessment reporting with focus on continuous improvement. Researches, compiles, prepares, and submits report in Anthology Planning (formerly CampusLabs - online assessment tracking program). Monitors and leads departmental program assessment. Assists departments in the development of writing-enhanced courses. Represents CAM on university-wide committee dedicated to the development of writing-enhanced courses/policy coordination, including university writing-related assessment requests of the college. Represents CAM on the course scheduling team. Guides departments through the AdAstra process. Acts as SUE score resource within the college.

Guides and monitors high impact practices within the College, including: common intellectual experiences, writing-enhanced courses, collaborative assignments and projects, undergraduate research, and service and community-based learning. Explores the potential for increased CAM student participation in: CAM-focused first-year experiences, diversity/global learning, internships.
Participates on CAAD as a CAM Associate Dean. Represents SHSU interests at national, state, regional, community, and local events/conferences. Participates in campus recruiting events (e.g. Meet the Dean, ExCEL, etc.). Conducts research and advises Dean (e.g., policy, accreditation, strategic planning, etc.). Performs other related duties as assigned.
*Other Specifications:*As required to discharge duties effectively and efficiently. Experience in assessment, academic accreditation, student success initiatives (e.g. high impact practices, diversity/global learning, undergraduate research), course scheduling, peer assessment, and external relations. Requires qualifications to be eligible to be hired at an advanced faculty rank: Associate or Full Professor within a College of Arts and Media (CAM) discipline, with tenure.
Position located in Huntsville, TX, one hour north of Houston (the fourth-largest metro area in the United States). The College of Arts and Media (CAM) consists of five academic units (School of Music, Department of Dance, Department of Theatre and Musical Theatre, Department of Mass Communication, and the Department of Art). With a growing population of undergraduate and graduate students (including online students in selected degree programs), CAM promotes academic excellence and active learning, research and creative activity, and meaningful service to our communities.

Start date is negotiable, no later than June 2023.
