*Position Summary::*The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, invites applications for a tenure-track, 9-month, Assistant Professor position in Neurobiology. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. and have post-doctoral research experience. We are particularly interested in researchers who will integrate two or more of the following fields: neurophysiology, neuroimmunology/inflammation, gut-brain axis, and/or behavioral neuroscience. Candidates using vertebrate or invertebrate models are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will complete a cluster hire in neurobiology, which has included expertise in neurogenetics, neurophysiology, and neuropathology, and will play a pivotal role in enhancing the department's neurobiology education focus. The successful applicant will join a growing core of faculty working in the areas of neurodegenerative disease, neurogenetics and neuroinflammation, blood-brain barrier, traumatic brain injury, behavioral neuroendocrinology, metabolomics, natural products pharmacology, and drug delivery systems. Research expectations include mentoring graduate and undergraduate students and developing an externally funded research program. Teaching responsibilities could include undergraduate courses in Neurobiology or Immunology, contributing to core curricular instruction, and/or development of an advanced level offering in the successful candidates' areas of expertise. Successful applicants will be highly motivated individuals with the ability to collaborate with other faculty members in the Department of Biological Sciences and in other departments and research institutes (e.g., Alabama Life Research Institute and the Center for Convergent Bioscience and Medicine).
