Bucknell University's Department of Art & Art History invites applications for a tenure-track position in Art History beginning in August 2023. We seek an individual trained in the art of the medieval or early modern period whose scholarship addresses intersections between art and science. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Art History by the start of the appointment. The position is a 3/2 teaching load and courses to be taught by the candidate include one of the two surveys of World Art (ARTH 101, ARTH 102), advanced courses in the candidate's field of specialization as well as interdisciplinary, general education courses that serve the university's core curriculum.

The successful teacher-scholar will reinforce the strengths of a department committed to diversity, equity, and global awareness, while making interdisciplinary connections across the university with dynamic pedagogies and research initiatives. There is ample opportunity and enthusiasm for the candidate to develop their own course content, to contribute to the ongoing development of the Art History curriculum, and to offer a first-year seminar in their specialty as part of our department's ongoing contribution to the university's core curriculum. In addition to demonstrating excellence in teaching, the successful candidate will display the potential for developing a strong body of original scholarship; for participating in service activities at the department, college, and university levels; and for serving as a dedicated mentor to undergraduate students in the department and beyond.
