Saint Mary's College seeks to hire a per-course adjunct faculty member to teach PERFA 71, Tap, in January Term 2023.

Jan Term 2023 (January 3 - January 27, 2022)

Mondays & Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30pm

.25 credit course (.33 faculty workload)

This course will be taught in person, on campus.

The instructor of this course will teach a movement class in Tap. The class is expected to challenge tap dancers while also providing the necessary skills and understanding for an appreciation of the artistic, athletic, and social qualities of the form. Throughout the term, students will learn different tap styles such as Musical Theatre Tap and Rhythm Tap plus various concepts surrounding tap including music, history, culture, and the African American influence on the form.



Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have experience teaching and choreographing in the African American Diaspora of Tap dance to college age students. The candidate must also be an expert in the style of tap with professional experience in the field including but not limited to training in Broadway musical theatre, Rhythm Tap, lineage from tap legends such as Arlene Kennedy and a dance major from an accredited college or university.

Candidates must reside in California.
