JCSU plays an active role in the community, serving as a catalyst for building and sustaining assets and resources in surrounding neighborhoods and throughout the city of Charlotte.Reporting to the senior vice president of academic affairs and chief academic officer Karen D. Morgan, the dean is responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of academic programs; developing, implementing and promoting engaging educational experiences for students; collaborating with department chairs on all aspects of program development, assessment and accreditation; managing course scheduling; preparing budgets; recruiting well-qualified professors; promoting positive interaction with other colleges within JCSU; and acting as the primary spokesperson for the College.JCSU seeks candidates who are dynamic, creative and committed to the values, goals and mission of the university. Candidates should have a commitment to and understanding of the HBCU mission and of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of JCSU's student population.Candidates should have an earned doctorate in a CLA field, with a record of progressive leadership experience in higher education. The ideal candidate will also have a strong commitment to teaching and a record of scholarly achievement and research.
