Job DescriptionOne Federal Solution is hiring Actin Dynamics Scientist to support our Federal Government client in the Bethesda, MD area.

JOB TASK AND DUTIES
  • Perform semi-independent research using cellular biology methods and super-resolution fluorescence microscopy imaging to study the mechanisms of assembly, dynamics, homeostasis, and turnover of stereocilia and model actin protrusions.
  • Design, construction, cloning, and expression of fluorescently tagged protein vectors.
  • Perform cell and tissue culture, transfection, and immunofluorescence labeling.
  • Perform microdissection of mouse inner ear tissue and immunofluorescence labeling (on the job instruction can be provided by NIDCD).
  • Perform fluorescence live-imaging using high-performance and super-resolution confocal microscopy.
  • Manage a small colony of transgenic mice expressing fluorescently tagged proteins of interest as well as calcium indicators.
  • Perform advanced quantitative image analysis.
  • Perform single molecule analyses of fluorescence data.
  • Identify and review literature pertinent to projects.
  • Design and carry out experiments.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data; update and maintain laboratory notebooks and databases.
  • Maintain detailed, orderly records of experiments.
  • Prepare reports and lead, write up and publish on specific projects.
  • Attend laboratory meetings and present results and findings to staff for discussion.
  • Passionate about science, self-motivated, proactive, and able to work in a team.
  • Work and communicate well in a team-oriented environment to carry out technological development and collaborative efforts
DELIVERABLES
  • Work products and documents related to performing research using cellular biology and advanced fluorescence imaging approaches to study the mechanisms of assembly, dynamics, homeostasis, and turnover of stereocilia and model actin protrusions.
  • Work products and documents related to performing advanced quantitative image analysis; identify and review pertinent literature; design and carry out experiments.
  • Work products and documents related to collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data; maintain notebooks, database, and records of experiments.
  • Prepare reports and manuscripts for publication.
  • Attend laboratory meetings.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular biology or a related discipline.
  • Expert (above routine use) experience using with confocal and super-resolution microscopy.
  • Expertise in cutting-edge molecular and cellular biology.
  • Analytical and Computational skills are highly valued
  • A solid publication record commensurate with years of postdoctoral work. Emphasis given to work and publications in the last 2 years.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
