Job Description
The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is currently seeking a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor to serve as Specialty Director in the Doctor of Nursing Practice, Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) program. UMSON enrolls more than 1,900 students in its baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs. UMSON is part of the University of Maryland graduate professional campus that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, law, pharmacy, and social work. Its interdisciplinary graduate school has more than 40 programs in the biosciences, law, and social work, and is one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Its location in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C.-Annapolis triangle maximizes opportunities for collaboration with government agencies, health care institutions, and life science industries. Primary Responsibilities
* Provides curricular leadership and guidance to faculty to ensure that all standards related to the Adult-Gerontology specialty is maintained
* Collaborates with the Associate Dean of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program and AGPCNP faculty related for curricular oversight, student admission and progression, recruitment and marketing of the program
* Monitors course evaluations to ensure compliance with accrediting standards and national specialty competencies
* Collaborates with the Department Chair and provides input regarding faculty recruitment, selection, orientation and assignments
* Provides oversight and advisement for the clinical/practicum placement process
* Develops, organizes, delivers, and evaluates advanced practice didactic and precepted practicum experiences in the primary care specialty
* Evaluate student performance in clinical settings
* Conducts site visits
* Advises and mentor students
* Participates in a program of scholarship
* Contributes to faculty governance
* Provides service to the School, university, and profession

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, or DNP). Certification as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Current license to practice in the State of Maryland or a compact state is required. Teaching experience is required. Advanced practice clinical experience is required.
