The Assistant Dean for Development and Alumni Relations for the Center for the Performing and Cinematic Arts [Boyer College of Music & Dance and the School of Theater, Film and Media Arts], reporting to the Assistant Vice President (Institutional Advancement) and the Dean of the Center for the Performing and Cinematic Arts (CPCA), will create and drive the strategy as well as manage the team and operations for fundraising and alumni and external relations for CPCA. Additionally, the Assistant Dean will cultivate and manage relationships and strategic partnerships with new and prospective donors, including identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding those with capacity for gifts of $100,000 and higher. As the University embarks on a large comprehensive campaign, the individual will work closely with Institutional Advancement central operations in aligning unit-based priorities with those of institutional leadership. The Assistant Dean will serve on the Dean's administrative leadership team and will create and implement strategies designed to support the funding of the dean's priorities and facilitate external relations and partnerships to drive alumni to alumni and student to alumni networking and mentorship. The individual will create collaborative relationships with senior staff and faculty in the school as well as other colleagues throughout Temple University. In addition, the Assistant Dean will have oversight and management responsibilities of the development and alumni and external relations staff which involves facilitating donors' participation in various programs and relationships with university leadership in an effort to develop meaningful partnerships that advance the mission, vision and objectives of CPCA. Although not part of the current structure, in the future this individual may hire a Director of Alumni and External Relations and create a plan to enhance alumni engagement and strategic relationships between the alumni, CPCA, and the students. This person must be a highly energetic, organized, and enthusiastic professional with a track record of building donor relationships, facilitating meaningful gifting opportunities and partnerships, working collaboratively and strategically, with a strong knowledge of principles, ethics, and practices of successful fundraising. Additionally, this individual will evidence exceptional personnel management skills. Bachelor's degree and at least seven years of related experience required. Higher/education fundraising experience with a proven track record of closing six to seven figure gifts preferred. Demonstrate success with identifying new partnerships and developing and sustaining relationships with key donors, volunteer leadership, Board of Visitors members, and senior staff. Experience working in a fast-paced work environment as well as motivating and managing individuals for maximum performance. Campaign and higher education experience a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills & Abilities:
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required with the ability to interact with a diverse group of constituents both inside and outside the university.
• Knowledge of planned giving techniques and the programs available to implement such gifts.
• Entrepreneurial skills in identifying donors, cultivating meaningful relationships, and facilitating gifts.
• Demonstrated creativity and strategic thinking with the ability to take initiative and the willingness to learn.
• Ability to make policy decisions when necessary, multi-task, set priorities, adapt to changes and meet deadlines.
• Ability to understand and work with budgetary procedures and policies.
