Summary
We are currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate in Computational Chemistry with special emphasis on computer-based drug discovery and molecular simulations to work in Dr. Lamees Hegazy's laboratory at St. Louis College of Pharmacy at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in Saint Louis.

In this role, you will preform theoretical studies aimed at better understanding of ligand binding to biological targets of interest and design ligand modulators that target different conformational states. Experience in molecular simulations, molecular docking, virtual screening is necessary. Experience in free energy calculations, machine learning and ab initio calculations will be an advantage. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team involving medicinal chemists and biochemists. As a member of interdisciplinary project teams, you take over responsibility for the early project phases including hit finding and hit follow-up. You will also support research projects with state-of-the-art computational chemistry methods and contribute to the design and optimization of lead compounds.

The selected candidate will benefit from rigorous training through collaboration with a team of scientists from three institutes in the Saint Louis area: Washington University in Saint Louis, University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in Saint Louis, and Saint Louis University.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry, theoretical/computational chemistry, structural biology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, or related disciplines
  • Experiences in the fields of MD simulations (Including enhanced sampling techniques), QM calculations and Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD).
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative, scientific team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, team-oriented environment.
