General Information
James Madison University welcomes applications for the Associate Dean for Administration and Finance in the College of Business (COB). This position reports to the Dean, serves as a key strategic advisor to the Dean for non-academic matters, and serves as the Dean's deputy for administrative affairs, operations, finance, and the systems that support those functions and services.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Associate Dean for Administration and Finance is responsible for managing the administrative operations of the school, including personnel and human resources, contracts and grants, budgetary and financial management, and facilities. The Associate Dean works closely with the Dean to develop and coordinate the school's annual academic and operating budget planning process, forecasts and predicts resource requirements for new and existing programs, and develops funding strategies. This an open rank, 12-month instructional faculty position. The normal teaching load is six credits per year.

Position elements include:

Fiscal Leadership: Facilitate the planning, attainment and management of financial resources for the College of Business, the School of Strategic Leadership Studies and Hart School of Hospitality, Sport & Recreation Management.

Facilities Administration: Provide leadership for and coordination of the overall physical development and planning of COB buildings and their infrastructure, including the maintenance of its physical assets.

Human Resource Leadership: Provide leadership for and coordination of human resource management strategies to include college compliance with relevant Commonwealth of Virginia Policies and Procedures.

College of Business Center Operations: Provide leadership for and coordination of the operational function of the Centers (Center for Economic Education, Small Business Development Center, Gilliam Center for Entrepreneurship, and Institute for Certified Professional Managers)

College of Business Representation:Represent the college at events and activities.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Business Administration or related field required, PhD preferred. Degrees should be from an AACSB accredited school
Minimum five years related experience, preferably in a college environment
Thorough knowledge of business, financial reporting and analysis, accounting, and human resources principles and practices
Experience preparing budgets, modeling, forecasting and financial planning and ability to develop and implement such systems
Working knowledge of student information systems
Demonstrated ability to work independently, under pressure, using good judgment, with an appropriate sense of priorities and the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations. Ability to use tact, diplomacy and discretion with emphasis on flexibility and professionalism
Proven ability to function effectively in an evolving and high-performance environment. The position requires political acumen and the capacity to handle a large number of assignments with sensitivity to priorities, shifting demands, and to consequences
Deep commitment to inclusion and ethical values. Experience and/or commitment to working with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and administrators

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience as a department chair or some other significant academic leadership experience is beneficial
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the higher education community, including its policies, procedures, practices, and culture is preferred.
Advanced Microsoft skills preferred (e.g., vlookup, pivot, etc.)
Grant/sponsored programs management experience

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
