Deadline: Dec 01, 2022 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

Description:The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions. All areas of aerospace and mechanical engineering will be considered, but the department particularly encourages applications from individuals who would complement and bridge existing strengths in its five research pillars: bioengineering; computational engineering; fluid mechanics; materials, energy, & manufacturing; and robotics & controls. One of the positions specifically targets an individual working at the intersection of two or more of the fields of bioengineering, robotics/automation, manufacturing, and data science. The Department seeks to attract, develop, and retain excellent faculty members with strong records and future promise. The Department is especially interested in candidates who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the University's academic community through their research, teaching, and service.

The search is aimed at the assistant professor level, but candidates at all levels who have strong records and promise will be considered. All applicants must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate discipline. Successful candidates will have demonstrated the potential to achieve an internationally distinguished record of scholarship, a diverse, externally funded research program, excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, and active service within both their research community and the university.

The University of Notre Dame strives for inclusive excellence. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion arises from our core principles that commit us to 1) respect for the dignity of every human person, 2) strive to build a just society in which all can flourish, and 3) live in solidarity with all, particularly the most vulnerable. These principles go to the heart of our mission. All candidates are asked to provide a statement in their application materials explaining how they will contribute to meeting our goal of inclusive excellence. This statement should describe how the candidate's past experiences and activities and/or future plans advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in their field, including education, research, and service endeavors. Information about the College of Engineering's commitment to advancing DEI can be found here.

This appointment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. Applicants will be asked to identify all felony convictions and/or pending felony charges. Felony convictions do not automatically bar an individual from employment. Each case will be examined separately to determine the appropriateness of employment in the particular position. Failure to be forthcoming or dishonesty with respect to felony disclosures can result in the disqualification of a candidate.
