The Department of Family Studies & Human Development at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Nutrition, to begin starting Fall Semester 2023. The Family Studies and Human Development Department provides learning experiences and service opportunities that teach students developmental needs of individuals, families, and consumers. Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 credits per academic year in the Family Studies and Human Development Department. Courses include both introductory and intermediate Nutrition course offerings required for nursing students, family studies majors, and general education students interested in foods and nutrition.
  • Lead the continuing development, review and management of existing nutrition courses, including scheduling, budgeting, and equipment. Oversee direct assessment of nutrition courses and program.
  • Consult with the department chair and dean in performing curriculum development in nutrition and other classes as needed.
  • Perform campus-wide faculty duties, including holding office hours, attending faculty and other meetings, adhering to University policies, serving on college and University committees, and in performing service requirements of tenure-track faculty as outlined in University policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree (PhD or EdD) in Nutrition or related field from an accredited institution required. ABD will also be considered if degree will be completed prior to August 2023.
  • Commitment to, and evidence of undergraduate teaching excellence. Finalists will be required to demonstrate competence through a teaching demonstration.
  • Background and ability to teach nutrition courses.
  • Successful experience in development of new degree program proposals and courses.
  • Competency in teaching face-to-face, blended and online courses.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in university, school, and departmental recruitment, retention, and assessment activities.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2023, with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2023. Annual salary of $57,000 - $60,000 depending on qualifications & experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
