Assistant/Associate Professor (Public Relations)

Job Description and Responsibilities:

The Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University invites applications for a nine-month tenure-eligible position in public relations at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin in fall 2023.

We seek a colleague prepared to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in public relations, strategic communication and courses related to their areas of expertise. Applicants should demonstrate evidence of or potential for high-quality research, teaching excellence and the pursuit of extramural research funding. We are especially interested in applicants with experience as a public relations or strategic communication practitioner.

This faculty member will supervise master's theses and non-thesis option projects, as well as doctoral dissertations and, occasionally, undergraduate honors theses. They will also develop a portfolio of service activities, including support for the Manship School's efforts to promote diversity and inclusion.

• Teach two graduate and/or undergraduate courses in the Manship School (public relations). 50%

• Conduct research in their field of expertise. 25%

• Service to the Manship School, university and community. 25%

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mass Communication or related discipline (A.B.D. candidates also may be considered).

The School is enhanced by support from its Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs. The School also offers unparalleled research facilities, such as the Public Policy Research Lab, Media Effects Lab and Social Media Analysis & Creation Lab.
