Shenandoah University is searching nationwide for a new dean of the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy. The incoming dean will be a learner-centered, future-focused academic leader; a highly respected professional with a clear understanding of the national issues affecting pharmacy education and practice and committed to innovative academic programs and curricula.
*The incoming dean will further strengthen the School's reputation as a nationally-recognized center of excellence in innovative pharmacy training. They will report directly to the Provost and will be a key member of the academic and institutional leadership teams. As chief academic officer of the School of Pharmacy, the incoming dean will oversee an internal leadership team that includes three Associate Deans (Academic Affairs, ICPH Campus, and Student Affairs) and one Assistant Dean (Assessment), and will be responsible for the executive management and future direction of the School of Pharmacy which includes traditional and non-traditional PharmD programs, programs in pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine, and residency/post-professional programs. *

Beyond having prior leadership experience and academic qualifications appropriate for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor*,* the incoming dean will ideally possess the following attributes:

Exceptional communication skills;A demonstrated commitment to diversity, an inclusive vision for excellence, and a leadership style that is both strategic and collaborative;A passion for innovative and interprofessional teaching and training, and broad familiarity with cutting edge instructional technology;A commitment to excellence in learning, with the ability to envision and ensure pursuit of effective recruitment, enrollment and support strategies that continually strengthen student success;Organizational bridge-building skills, able to develop current and potential partnerships with health systems, professional organizations and other internal and external partners; The ability to oversee high-quality faculty and staff recruitment, evaluation, and development; being a strong advocate for faculty excellence;Experience with change management, with enthusiasm to function as an advocate for the School in all of its teaching, scholarly, and service-oriented endeavors;A record of scholarly activity and dissemination and support for faculty scholarship, or equivalent;A commitment to the University's mission and a collaborative orientation appropriate to the shared work of continually strengthening the University experience and brand. *How to Apply:*

Founded in 1996, the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy quickly developed into a school recognized for its innovative curriculum and instruction. It remains mission-driven, committed to educating future pharmacy professionals to deliver patient-centered, advanced care in a rapidly changing and ever-expanding healthcare environment.
The Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy is one of nine health professions programs at Shenandoah University, allowing for numerous inter-professional learning and research opportunities. It offers several degree pathways; a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD), MS in Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine, three dual degree programs ( PharmD/MBA, PharmD/MS in Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine, PharmD/MPH), a certificate in Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine, and, for distance learners, a Non-traditional Doctor of Pharmacy (NTDP Pathway). Hallmarks of the program are the integration of technology and genomics into education and practice, transformative learning experiences, and a commitment to equity and inclusive practices. The SOP currently operates two campuses in Virginia -- one in Winchester, located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley on the campus of a 400-bed regional medical center, and the other in Northern Virginia, on the campus of the Inova Center for Personalized Health, within the DC metropolitan area providing easy access to multiple educational and research centers.
Importantly, the School of Pharmacy has a rich history of collaborative partnerships and developing relationships with institutions such as Valley Health Systems, INOVA Health Systems, INOVA Center for Personalized Health, the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Johns Hopkins University, United States Pharmacopeia, the Food and Drug Administration and Project Hope.
