OPEN RANK FACULTY

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic university committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, invites applications from outstanding candidates for a full-time, tenured/tenure-track faculty position in electrical engineering. The start date for the position is January 2023.

General responsibilities for the position include teaching undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in electrical engineering, developing a research program involving and suited for undergraduate student participation, contributing to the buildup of an innovative electrical engineering program, and other service activities as needed by the department and the university. A Ph.D. in electrical engineering; excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service; and a commitment to the university's mission are requirements for the position. Candidates with industry experience and a PE license are preferred.

Applicants must provide a cover letter addressing qualifications for the position; curriculum vitae; philosophy of teaching; research proposal involving undergraduate students; and the names and contact information of three professional references. Applicants should also consult Ex Corde Ecclesiae and provide a response as outlined here: https://www.stthom.edu/Offices-and-Services/Human-Resources/Index.aqf#FacultyEmployment.

The University of St. Thomas is committed to hiring faculty who can help it not only fulfill its integrated mission - the formation of the whole person for flourishing in this life and the next - but also advance it in new ways. The University's Catholic identity is the center of this mission, a Catholicism expressed for our own age by the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Pope St. John Paul II's Ex Corde Ecclesiae . The University asks all candidates applying for this position to consider these documents to ensure their professional goals and practices can align with them. While applicants need not be Catholic, they must be able to support the University as it seeks to be faithful to and embody the riches of the Catholic intellectual tradition.
