Overview
The successful candidate will serve as a consultant in charge of developing methodologies to identify climate mitigation strategies and work to develop product/system solutions for the urban built environment. The ideal candidate will bring experience evaluating current climate mitigation projection models as well as expertise in atmospheric and/or land- surface process modeling. Proficiency in interdisciplinary research and working with external partners, national labs and academia will also be key in this role.

Overview
The successful candidate will serve as a consultant in charge of developing methodologies to identify climate mitigation strategies and work to develop product/system solutions for the urban built environment. The ideal candidate will bring experience evaluating current climate mitigation projection models as well as expertise in atmospheric and/or land- surface process modeling. Proficiency in interdisciplinary research and working with external partners, national labs and academia will also be key in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Lead evaluation of climate projection models and application of models to identify climate mitigation strategies through product / system design changes in the urban built environment
- Work with external entities to develop refined land / atmospheric surface models
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Present at national and international meetings
- Contribute to the development of new products & systems
- A Ph.D. in Physics, Atmospheric Science, Engineering, Earth System Science, or a directly related discipline
- 7 years minimum industry or research consortium experience (10 years preferred)
- Experience with using atmospheric and/or land-surface process models and model-data integration
- Familiar with climate model outputs and have experience with data visualization, statistical/mathematical analysis, and handling of large datasets
- Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented and project-based environment on multiple projects
- Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and sectors
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and pursue independent research ideas
- Ability to work well in a diverse team across cultures and experiences
- Broad background in structure/property relationships
- Strong understanding in one or more of the following areas:
- thermal transport (thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, numerical modeling) and/or electrical transport in materials
- IR reflective coating or radiative cooling structures
- polymer chemistry and aging science
