This position is a full-time, twelve (12) month, non-tenure track, special appointment with University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) within Education Resources.
*Job Summary and Responsibilities*The University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Education Resources is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure track position as the Director of Instructional Design and Technology at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.Education Resources provides a wide range of educational services and consultation to faculty and supports curricular elements throughout the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Education Resources coordinates, develops, integrates, and evaluates the educational resources, services, and activities for SMHS educational programs. It aids faculty in developing and evaluating curricula and promotes the SMHS's work in educational development and research activities.Education Resources seeks a professional with a terminal degree in instructional design or equivalent educational field with expertise in teaching, curriculum design and evaluation, and education scholarship. Responsibilities include serving as Director of Instructional Design and Technology. Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning (ADTL), this faculty position will take a leadership role in establishing, implementing, and maintaining SMHS faculty development programming; conducting an annual faculty development needs assessment; meeting annually with SMHS programs to establish priorities for faculty development and curriculum evaluation and revision; generating annual reports; managing budgets; assisting the ADTL in the generation of external grant funding; serving on/leading medical curriculum committees; providing expertise for medical curriculum evaluation and management functions and reporting, including LCME accreditation activities; operationalizing and overseeing the implementation of MD program evaluation activities in a CQI manner consistent with the governance and evaluation system whitepaper; consulting with medical curriculum leaders on technology-based curriculum initiatives (e.g., telehealth); and coordinating/delegating daily activities of the Instructional Designer.Along with active involvement in academic and professional service, scholarship, and creative activities related to the areas above will be required,*Minimum Requirements*
Terminal degree (PhD, EdD) in Instructional Design and Technology or equivalent educational field3 years direct experience with a variety of teaching methods (especially active learning), curriculum/course
design, and curriculum evaluation3 years' experience in planning, design, delivery, and/or implementation of faculty development offerings in
higher education setting3 years teaching experience in higher education setting1 year supervisory experience at an academic institution1 year experience with program accreditation systems, continuous quality improvement models of curriculum
and program evaluation3 years of consultative work with faculty in a variety of disciplines and backgrounds in providing faculty
development around curriculum design, assessment, and/or evaluationEducation scholarship in the form of publications or conference presentationsPrior grant participation/submission related to teaching, learning, and/or faculty developmentSuccessful completion of criminal history records check.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. *This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.**Preferred Qualifications*
5 years direct experience with a variety of teaching methods (especially active learning), curriculum/course
design, and curriculum evaluation10 years related experience in higher education and/or health professions environmentsTeaching experience in medical programs and familiarity with medical education modelsExperience with design and implementation of medical program evaluation practices that meet LCME
accreditation standardsEvidence of interdisciplinary collaboration in medical education and/or health sciencesMore than 1 year of supervisory experience at an academic institution3 years of experience with the online learning and related technology in higher education settingEducation scholarship in the form of medical or health sciences publications or conference presentationsPrior grant funding related to teaching, learning, and/or faculty development in medical or health sciences
