The role

It is an exciting time to join Bristol Dental School as we move to a new clinical and teaching facility in 2023.

In this role you will be working within Bristol Dental School at the University of Bristol and hold an honorary specialty dentist position at the University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust. Reporting to the Head of Bristol Dental School and Clinical Director at the Dental Hospital, you will work directly with the Lead in Urgent Dental Care along with the Head of Teaching, to contribute to the teaching and delivering of education to undergraduate, and potentially postgraduate students, however you will be expected to work flexibly across other departments as required.

Clinical Lecturers are involved in clinical teaching delivery, tutorials and providing academic management and organisation.

You will be an outstanding individual who will take part in developing education at an undergraduate level.

What will you be doing?

You will be expected to comply with all relevant Trust policies relating to administration of patient care. This includes working to set timescales for the triage of referrals, following the specified process for the management of patients that do not attend their appointment, and the completion of all paperwork deemed necessary to support the management of their patients within agreed timescales.

You will be expected to participate fully in teaching undergraduate dental students (BDS and Hygiene/Therapy) on clinics. Dental Students begin working in this department in their 3rd year and continue to the final BDS exam at the end of the 5th year. Hygiene/Therapy students are clinical from year 1 through to graduation in the 3rd year.

You should apply if
  • You have a keen interest in team training and integrated teaching.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills
  • You enjoy working as part of a strong cohesive team
  • You want to play a significant part in the ongoing development of the new BDS 21 curriculum.
