The Executive Dean of the Faculty of Environment, Professor Selina Stead, seeks a talented, interdisciplinary post-doctoral researcher. This post offers the chance to lead building new interdisciplinary capabilities supporting application of ocean science. Expected outcomes are co-creating resilience in coastal communities in the face of unprecedented climate change and influencing formulation of policy within a multi-level governance framework (community, national, regional and international levels).
The overarching objective is to build collaborations leading to creation of interdisciplinary ocean research communities, and to influence 'real world' challenges such as balancing marine food security with biodiversity conservation. We will do this by identifying and influencing funding opportunities where colleagues can co-create strategic partnerships to secure grants that deliver Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14 objectives.
The researcher will lead co-designing participatory workshops to promote inclusive research and interdisciplinary collaboration to question, challenge and evidence scientific gaps where experts at the University of Leeds can contribute towards progress of SDG 14: conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
The ability to analyse large data sets, distil and communicate complex information and its context to internal and external colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds is an important aspect of this role. You will have a passion for generating knowledge through interdisciplinary ocean science and build on research interests of Professor Stead to help prioritise research funding applications to deliver SDG14 objectives, aligned with the University Values and Global Change Strategy.
