ROLE SUMMARY

At Pfizer, we are applying cutting-edge computational methods on comprehensive datasets to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of disease and drive the development of novel therapeutics. Pfizer Oncology Computational Biology group is seeking a talented and highly motivated bioinformatician to join a team that develops innovative data and analytical solutions for oncology research and development. This new hire will lead the analysis of real-world clinical genomics data by developing and applying state-of-the-art computational approaches. This is an exciting opportunity to make an impact at all stages of drug discovery including target identification, translational research, and clinical testing in a dynamic, collaborative, and inter-disciplinary environment.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and apply innovative AI/ML methods for the analysis of multi-omics and single cell genomics data from the real-world clinical settings.
  • Perform data mining analyses to identify novel drug targets and biomarker hypotheses and derive insights into drug resistance and mechanism of action.
  • Collaborate with experimental biologists to pursue scientific investigation and support technology development for application in clinical and translational research.
  • Contribute to publication efforts and the development of pipelines and systems for data analysis, integration, and management.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or a closely related field with 1-5 years of relevant experience in biopharmaceutical industry or academia.
  • Strong skills in scientific programming (R, Python or Perl) in the UNIX/LINUX environment.
  • Strong background in high-dimensional, multivariate data analysis.
  • Proven record of scientific accomplishment in applying computational approaches to solving biological problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) and multi-task.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skills and experience in the development and application of statistical/machine learning/AI methods.
  • Skills and experience in multi-omics and/or single cell genomics data analysis and pipeline development.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with experimental biologists to communicate and discuss results.
  • Knowledge and experience with cancer biology and genomics.
  • Postdoctoral or work experience in biopharmaceutical industry and/or academia.
