Are you a crop modeller with an interest in working at the forefront of interdisciplinary collaboration?
Are you ready to bring together expertise from across academia and food systems stakeholders to identify food system transformation pathways for southern Africa?
Food Systems Transformation in Southern Africa for One Health (FoSTA-Health) will develop ambitious and inclusive visions of, and solutions for, cross-scale food systems transformation for achieving positive One Health outcomes in southern Africa. We will collaborate across a diverse consortium of partners, and with a wide variety of food system stakeholders in four focal southern African countries - Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.
FoSTA-Health will strengthen understanding of the interactions between human, animal and environmental health, and, through this Research Fellow post, parameterise and simulate these interactions. The associated participatory integrated modelling will explore pathways of food system transformation across time and space.
You will have a PhD or be near completion of a PhD in a scientific or mathematical discipline. You will be a strong programmer with experience of working with large data sets and statistical methods, and have a passion for generating knowledge through interdisciplinary science and fostering collaborations across disciplines.
You will work within the collegiate and dynamic environment of the Climate Impacts group, which is part of the School of Earth and Environment. Find out more about these in the Additional Information section below.
