POSITION LOCATION: On campus position located in Fort Morgan, CO

EMPLOYMENT SPECIFICS:

ESL Instructor Beginning Level or ESL Instructor Intermediate Level

Part-time hourly instructor (28 hours/week maximum)

PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:

This position is responsible for the instruction of ESL students at the Beginning or Intermediate Levels. This position will coordinate with the Student Retention & Basic Skills Specialist to ensure student needs are being met through careful record-keeping of all facets of student performance including test results, subject gains and attendance. Responsibilities include lesson planning, record-keeping, answering student questions/inquiries via email and phone, grading and providing constructive feedback on assignments, composing course outlines/syllabi, and consistently collaborating and communicating with the Student Retention & Basic Skills Specialist to connect students to opportunities they are interested in while in the program. This position will include teaching times primarily in the mornings/afternoons though in the future could include teaching assignments in the evenings and on weekends, depending on student/community needs. A variety of instructional delivery modalities (synchronous, hybrid, remote) will be employed via Zoom and other platforms. The individual shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities for inclusion, expressing the valuing of differences, and regularly demonstrating the college's commitment to the Guiding Principles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in adult education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience teaching English Language Learners (ELLs).
  • Strong technological skills and experience in using the MS Office suite, Zoom, and Learning Management Systems.
  • Strong ability to communicate and interact with culturally diverse and at-risk populations.
  • Willingness to cross-train for other teacher positions in the GED/ESL program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in ESL/TESOL, adult education, or related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Somali.
  • Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA) from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) or willingness to obtain it within three (3) years of hire.
  • Extensive experience teaching in various modalities (in-person, hybrid, & remote) to diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.

Anticipated Start Date: August 2022

Salary and Benefits:

$31.06 - $33.76, based on education, skills and experience. This position is not eligible for a benefits package. Employees must be designated at .75 FTE or greater to be eligible for the Colorado Community College System benefit package. Sick leave shall be accrued and granted in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act. No relocation assistance is provided.

About Morgan Community College (MCC):

MCC is one of 13 colleges comprising the Colorado Community College System (CCCS). The college has consistently been named a Great College to Work For by the Chronicle of Higher Education in the past decade.

MCC is located on I-76, 80 miles northeast of Denver and approximately 100 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park. MCC provides high quality lower division transferable courses and occupational education culminating in a variety of certificate, associate, and baccalaureate degree programs through traditional, innovative, and non-traditional delivery methods to an 11,500 square mile service area in eastern Colorado.
