Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applications for two tenure-track positions to serve our growing accredited programs in Computer Science and Cybersecurity starting fall 2023. We offer bachelor's degrees with tracks spanning Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Languages & Systems. Most classes are taught in computer lab classrooms and typically have 30 students or less per section. Faculty place high priority on teaching excellence and are expected to be professionally active. Appointments as early as Spring 2023 will also be considered.

Position Summary & Description: The appointments are expected at the Assistant Professor level but appointments at the Associate Professor level are possible depending on qualifications and experience.

Duties: To teach core and upper-level courses including but not limited to programming, cybersecurity, and software engineering. The normal course load is 12 hours per semester. Duties include advising students, serving on faculty committees, continuing scholarly growth, and participating in academic and professional activities of the department, university, and discipline. The successful candidate may be assigned to perform work at off-campus sites and/or provide instruction through distance education.

Position Qualifications Required: MS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a closely related field. Candidates with a master's degree need to be enrolled in a doctoral degree program in Computer Science or a closely related field. Previous experience teaching upper-level Computer Science and/or Cybersecurity courses. Preferred: Ph.D. in Computer Science or Cybersecurity at time of appointment. For applicants without a doctorate at the time of appointment, doctoral degree completion is expected by the end of the third year of employment. The department seeks candidates whose teaching, research, and/or service has prepared them to contribute to IUP's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well during the on-campus interview(s).

Faculty must be able to: Teach courses assigned by the departmental chair on a schedule made of a combination of standard class-meeting times as determined to meet instructional needs and adhere to the requirements of the department's curriculum. Teach courses for a mandated number of contact hours per week over a full semester and meet university expectations for final exams. Present course material in a clear and organized manner using methodologies appropriate to the discipline. Evaluate student work fairly and promptly. Perform the physical requirements of laboratory, field work, studio work, or other activities outside typical classroom instruction if applicable. Maintain current knowledge of the discipline through continued scholarly activity and research. Participate actively in assignments necessary to advance the service and/or outreach of the department, college, and university.
