Assistant Professor (WOT) - Orthopaedic Oncology - UW Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine

The Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine of the University of Washington is seeking a full-time orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in musculoskeletal tumor surgery. An interest in complex total joint replacement surgery of the hip and the knee is desirable. This position will be based at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level (without tenure due to funding) in our academic promotion track.

Responsibilities include patient care, resident and fellow education, medical student teaching, and clinical or basic science research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice while providing exceptional collaborative patient care.

This position has a flexible start date in the spring or fall of 2023. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11-months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

Candidates must have:

An MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent).
Be board certified or eligible in orthopaedic surgery.
Completion of fellowship training in musculoskeletal tumor surgery.
Interest in surgical management of primary and metastatic tumors of bone, soft tissue sarcoma surgery, prosthetic and allograft joint and limb reconstructions.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
