Job Description
Wilkes University invites applicants for a nine-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank in Choral Conducting and Applied Voice. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and administering both the University Chorus and the Chamber Singers, a select ensemble. Additional responsibilities include sharing the teaching load of applied voice lessons for Musical Theatre majors, and serving the Division of Performing Arts curriculum based on need and candidate's area(s) of expertise. Candidates with experience providing vocal coaching/accompanying and/or musical direction for musical theatre productions are especially encouraged to apply.

A doctorate in music, or other applicable terminal degree is preferred; an MM with substantial experience may be considered. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated prior experience in directing, developing, recruiting, and maintaining a choral music program at the collegiate level; have college-level experience in applied voice instruction, to including proficiency in a variety of styles such as bel canto, musical theatre, and belt technique; have excellent skills as a pianist; and possess a wide knowledge of traditional and contemporary vocal and choral repertoire. Please note that the department may also offer the position as a non-tenured Faculty of Practice, depending on qualifications and experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
