Job Description

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science in the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts at Duquesne University invites applications for a tenure-track position in computer science with demonstrated expertise in systems, beginning in fall 2023 at the rank of assistant professor. While teaching undergraduate computer science courses will be expected, we are particularly interested in a candidate who is also willing and able to offer graduate courses such as Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Networks, and/or Security for our MSCS program. The department strives to accommodate each faculty member's teaching preferences, including the creation of new courses. Tenure-track faculty members are expected to perform well both in the classroom and as researchers. The maximum expected teaching load for faculty members who meet certain minimal publication criteria is three courses per semester, with potential reductions available to support research.

As a condition of employment, Duquesne University requires all new employees--full-time and part-time, including adjunct faculty--to get a COVID-19 vaccine and provide proof of their vaccination upon commencement of employment.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment, and will join four tenured computer science faculty and sixteen other full-time faculty in the department.
