Transplant Infectious Disease Physician Faculty Positions

The Division of Infectious Diseases (ID) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has immediate openings for faculty in the Transplant & Immunocompromised Host (non-HIV) Infectious Diseases Program. We are seeking exceptional candidates to serve as program leaders, including Director of the Transplant ID (TID) program, Director of the TID fellowship training program, and physicians on the Clinician Educator and Physician Scientist tracks. Successful candidates will join a thriving academic program, with an established TID subspecialty fellowship offering opportunities for medical education and training the next generation of TID leaders. The Vanderbilt Transplant Center is the worlds largest heart transplant center and in 2021, performed the fifth largest number of solid organ transplants in the US. The Transplant Center and TID group offers rich opportunities for professional development in the areas of clinical and basic research, medical education, and clinical service delivery.

Clinical activities include attending on the TID inpatient consult service at Vanderbilt University Hospital and at the adjacent Nashville VA Hospital, as well as outpatient care limited to immunocompromised hosts (non-HIV). TID faculty actively participate in the transplant and general ID fellowship program and pursue scholarly activities such as research, mentoring, and teaching. TID faculty collaborate closely with medical and surgical transplant teams for both patient care and administrative duties, and strong communication skills are critical. Experience in TID-related research, medical education, or antimicrobial stewardship is highly desirable.

Applicants should have MD, MD/PhD, or MD/MPH degrees and have completed subspecialty or focused training in TID. Candidates for the Director positions should have an established track record of leadership and experience in the care of immunocompromised patients including transplant recipients. Rank is commensurate with experience, and salaries and benefits packages are highly competitive.
