Middle and Upper School Computer Science Instructor

The Ellis School, the only pre-kindergarten to grade 12 independent all-girls day school in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a full-time Middle and Upper School Computer Science instructor beginning in August 2023. Responsibilities will include teaching a range of courses from introductory middle school computer science to advanced high school computer science and advising a group of eight to ten students.

Qualifications

Undergraduate studies in computer science or a related field are required. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience and the ability to teach a broad range of computer science courses including Cybersecurity and AP Computer Science A. Proficiency in both text-based and drag-and-drop programming languages such as Python, Java, and Scratch is required. Familiarity with additional topics such as robotics, networking, data analysis, privacy, and artificial intelligence is preferred. An ability to apply a variety of pedagogical approaches and to be flexible is a must. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven ability to work collaboratively and a clear commitment to using innovative pedagogical practices and technology to enhance instruction. Candidates must also have excellent communication skills, demonstrate a strong belief in all-girls education, and possess an enthusiasm for working with and teaching adolescents.
