Instructor, Automotive Technology
Inmate Instruction
The Instructor for Automotive reports directly to the Director of Correctional Education. The Instructor may also report to The Chair of Business and Technology Programs. The primary duties of this position are classroom teaching and lab instruction in a correctional facility. Duties include program recruiting, working with the advisory committee, and curriculum development. Teaching assignment may include day and evening classes. Must be able to pass and maintain security clearance in order to teach for the prison. Graduate of an accredited two-year college or university with an Associate of Applied Science and A.S.E. certification is required. Three to five years of industry experience and teaching experience are required. Industry experience may be substituted for education. Knowledge of principles and procedures of automotive technology. Classes are taught in an automotive shop in the prison setting. Safe working conditions are of utmost importance as there are fire, chemical, and crushing hazards present.
Salary: Commensurate with Experience; Plus Excellent Benefits
Position is security sensitive and subject to Texas education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
