Job Description
The Conservatory of Music at Capital University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member as Assistant Professor of Music History (primary) and Theory (secondary). The successful candidate will have significant experience and a documented record of success as a teacher at the collegiate level. Salary is Assistant Professor level and dependent on the candidate's experience and qualifications. This is a 9-month contract beginning in Fall 2023.

Major responsibilities: The successful candidate should be prepared to teach The History of Western Music I and II, Introduction to Music and Listening, Musicianship I and Audiation I. Additional responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) teaching courses according to the needs of the department or other areas of Capital University, within the candidate's area of expertise. The successful candidate will also maintain an active profile of service and artistic activity, provide academic advisement to students, participate on committees, and provide service to the university and profession.

Qualifications: Terminal degree in musicology, ethnomusicology, or related field. A prior pedagogical success in educational settings, including awareness and application of progressive methods and practices of effective instruction, and the ability to work within a highly collaborative learning environment is expected. Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment and ability to engage professionally and collegially with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
